This is a wonderful iced coca tea beverage for hot summer months. It is also perfect if you just want to cool down and re-energize.
Coca tea is rather tasty on it’s own, but when you add other natural ingredients such as lemon, honey and ginger, it really brings out the full flavor that becomes a great, cool summer drink.

AeroPress makes it easy to extract all the needed alkaloids from coca tea powder. You can use it to make delicious coffee and yerba mate tea.
The Ultimate Iced Energy Beverage
Ingredients:
2 heaped teaspoons of coca leaves or powder
Hot but not boiling water
Several ice cubes from the freezer
Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Sweeten with honey or stevia
How to make the iced coca tea drink:
Make your AeroPress coca tea base.
- Take out the AeroPress
- Put two heaped teaspoons of coca tea powder and half a gram of sodium bicarbonate into the AeroPress tube
- Fill the tube with hot water
- Stir the coca leaf tea and bi carb soda mixture for 20 seconds and let it steep for full 5 minutes
- Make sure to moisten the AeroPress rubber plunger prior to pressing coca tea (makes it easy to press)
- Press your concentrated coca leaf tea
Recipe Continued:
Several ice cubes to your concentrated coca tea
Add a teaspoon of natural honey or stevia (if you like your iced coca leaves drink sweet)
Add some mineral water for a more mellow taste
Instead of mineral water, feel free to add some natural juice for taste (Grapefruit makes coca tea stronger for example)
Add a dash of fresh lemon juice if you like

Not any time soon Iām afraid. Peru are going through second wave of covID 19. No coca tea for a while in Peru.
Peru said they would open back in July… they are in heavy lock downs since March.
